How is Data-Coffer different from other backup services?
Unlike other online services which rely on your total involvement to install the software, configure the software, establish the backup schedule, and to restore the data after a system crash, and to do this all while your online, (difficult at best when your system has crashed) we actually come to your site and install the software, configure the software, and perform an initial hard drive backup. Afterwards, when you have the need to retrieve a file you can simply call us or notify us online through our web site and request a file my name and we will pass it to your system the same day. In addition, should you experience a catastrophic failure of all your data, we will show up on the same day to restore your information.

Do I really need an expert to assist me?
Yes, if you want the most effective, efficient backups. Our system is EXTREMELY flexible, and there are many options that must be properly configured. Our experts take into account your computer setup, network configuration, types of data you backup, and other elements in configuring our software to meet your exact needs.

Do I have to sign a contract?
No. A company working without a contract must be very good at what they do, and we are! We keep our customers by providing great service at a fair price. We have many clients that have used our service since we started it in 1992, and we are proud of what that says about our company.

How much does it cost?
Because price depends on many factors, we can't give you a firm quote until we actually assess your environment and determine your backup needs. Pricing starts at $90.00 per month with a nominal installation and setup fee, but the accuracy of the quote is dependent on the systems/files to be backed up. A typical small business configuration with 2 workstations and no server or high end server software running (i.e. SQL, MS Exchange, Oracle, etc.) is $90.00 a month (assuming the PC's are networked) with a $299.00 installation, setup, and configuration fee. What factors affect cost?
The primary factors are volume of data, the type of data backed up, the amount of data that changes between backups, the number of backups that are retained and the number of PC's/Servers to be backeGross Misconductd up.

How does the reliability compare with that of tape backups?
No comparison. Our backup service is much more reliable than most tape backups. We have MANY clients who have run our service for years without ever changing their configuration and without ever missing a backup. We will put our track record up against any tape backup system. A major risk of tape systems is that even when all indicators point to successful backups, the restores fail. Secondly, most companies using tape systems don't employ a secondary fail-safe system. Our system has redundancy built in.

Can I still use my tape system?
Yes. Many of our clients continue to run their tape backups, but no longer transport their tapes off site. Redundancy is the key to data security, so you can never have too many
backups.

Does it work if our company has a firewall?
Absolutely. Our specialists will configure the client side software with the required proprietary firewall port information. In most situations, firewall changes are NOT required.

I have mirrored/RAID hard drives. Won't that protect me from viruses or data loss?
No. Mirrored hardware only protects you from a hardware failure. Since 90% of data loss is due to data corruption or user error, mirrored equipment offers no protection. This is because corrupt data gets instantly written to the mirror equipment. The only way to protect your data is by having a backlog of backups to restore from.
